A lot of people hesitate before uploading a photo. They think they need something professional. A DSLR, a fancy lens, a special session. They don't.
The portrait we generate focuses on your pet's face. And for that, a phone photo is usually fine.
What Actually Matters
**Face clarity.** The face needs to be reasonably sharp. Not blurry from fast movement. Not pixelated from cropping a tiny face out of a wide shot. Just a clear, focused face.
**Lighting.** Natural light is best. Near a window, outside on a cloudy day, in a bright room. You don't need studio lights. You need enough light that the face isn't dark and muddy.
**Distance.** Your pet's face should take up a decent portion of the frame. A photo where your dog is a small dot in the background won't give us much to work with. Close-up is better.
That's basically it.
What Doesn't Matter
We've made portraits from photos taken on older phones in ordinary living rooms. We've made portraits from slightly imperfect angles. If the face is clear and lit, it usually works.
Try It and See
The easiest way to know if your photo will work is to upload it. The preview is free and takes 30 seconds. You'll see exactly what the portrait looks like from your specific photo before you decide anything.
If the result isn't what you hoped, try a different photo. You can upload as many times as you want at no cost.
